Jingyu Lin (affectionately known as ‘Jean’) is originally from the Chicago suburbs. She became interested in Photography in high school and spent her teenage years shooting her projects with her friends. Her passion led her to continue exploring the world of photography at university while she simultaneously studied for a public health degree. Upon graduating, she made her decision and moved to NYC and pursue a career as a Photographer. As soon as she arrived, Jingyu began honing her knowledge by assisting an expansive roster of renown artists which allowed her the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of the industry while building her portfolio.
Jingyu utilizes a dreamy, romantic color palette that is reflected in the intimate film images she captures of her editorial subjects. Her work shows her love of both portraiture and fashion photography as she strives to allow her subjects to play different characters while also capturing their true essence. As a woman of color and the daughter of Chinese parents who emigrated to the states, she is passionate about sharing the stories of underrepresented communities both within and outside the industry. This storytelling comes through in her distinctive work and has earned her an impressive list of clients within the relatively short period of time that she has been in NYC.
Select clients include: Adidas, Asics, Atlantic Records, Clinique, Elle U.S., i-D, InStyle, Interscope Records, Graff, Miu Miu, Prabal Gurung, Odda, Odette, Office, The New York Times, The New Yorker, The WOW, and Time Magazine.
